Wilde Mind: A Life In Fragments / Client: Richard & Judith Wilde
This exhibition honors the 50-year legacy of Richard Wilde, chair emeritus of the BFA Design & BFA Advertising departments at the School of Visual Arts. This exhibition traces Wilde’s evolution from his roots in Brooklyn to his transformative role at SVA, where he left his mark on the lives of more than 10,000 students and colleagues. The exhibit is organized into four thematic chapters, each reflecting a distinct phase of Wilde’s life and career, offering a vivid portrait of his enduring impact and creative journey.
“As a child I began by collecting coins, stamps, then four leaf clovers, then graduated to all sorts of ephemera, oddities and curiosities. Each item that I found touched me in an essential way, and awakened a need to search further” – Richard Wilde
“I have always been drawn to the color green. It has the power to wake me up. Green makes me feel more present to myself, as if awakening from a dream. I got weak in the knees for green.” – Richard Wilde
