Star Trek Playset / Client: School of Visual Arts
Based on the 1960s television show, Megounveiled the U.S.S. Enterprise Playset in 1975. The pop art quality of the original toy inspired the idea to recreate it as a life-sized backdrop and photo opportunuity for an outer-space themed party. We decided to recreate the toy version of the Enterprise instead of the TV version because of the pop art quality it presented. The designers of the original toy resisted accuracy, and instead focused on play-value and bright, eye-catching colors—and it was a tremendous success.
